In the 18th century, a rock fell down from a mountain and caused a tragic accident with a horse carriage. All passengers got drowned in the lake beside the road. I waited five or six years to get the conditions right for conveying the drama of that scene, which was done by the red sky. This ended up with my image DISAPPEARANCE. But when I was out for photographing then, I realized that I had also to bring a feeling of salvation into the image, to tell the entire story. I spotted the cold reflecting clouds right beside the rock, which emphasized the broken reeds and especially that mood of salvation. Combined with the reds on the left side I got this bittersweet mood of drama and salvation. This image is meant as an homage to the tragic accident, back then.
