I am absolutely fascinated by this castle ruine on this island in Croatia. There were so many possibilities for a working composition. On that day, the tiny waves allowed me to use the sea only as foreground with themselves as leading element as well as the reflection of the dark side of the ruine at the left. One of the common rules of landscape photography means, that clear skies are to avoid, because they don't add drama to the image. This doesn't match 100% with my experience, it depends much more on the combination of weather, light, perspective, focal length and composition. I am so happy, that I was able to catch the opposite-dawn stripe with my tele focal length to get this amazing graduated sky - a weather phenomenon, which only occures with clear sky. Obviously, no clouds doesn't automatically mean to get no drama into the sky. |
