It took me multiple weeks to get the right weather conditions for taking this shot at that breathtaking lake in the dolomites. I wanted to get dramatic cloud coverage, shadow over the lake to get this melancholic mood and also to bring these unique colours better out. But I also wanted to get subtle light coming through des clouds.

And then, after a steep, long hike on a partly slippery trail beside a dangerous drop-off, I entered this amazing lake, which appeared like a milk shake to me due to that stunning colour. I have no words to describe how I felt when I got everything together.
